Learn What Can Cause Damage To Your Hair

DAMAGED HAIR

Imagine a world where there is no such thing as split ends, or dry hair; a world where you could blow dry, flat iron, and color your hair as much as you wanted. You may say hair like that only exists in a perfect world.

Unfortunately, hair can be easily damaged but not as easily repaired. Some causes of hair damage are out of our hands, for instance, the weather, extremely cold temperatures, dry air, and humidity are all things we cannot control. However, there are things we do that can cause us to damage our hair, some things you may not even be aware of.

Over shampooing and over brushing are two causes of hair damage that many people don’t think about; also brushing wet hair, or vigorous towel drying hair. While such things don’t seem as serious over a period of time, the damage can begin to show. Some hair maintenance routines we continue to do knowing the damage it can cause to our hair. Heat damage from blow dryers, flat irons, and curling irons are some of the most common causes of damaged hair; wearing ponytails or braids to tight, and too often. Over processing hair in regards to color, relaxer, and perms. All of these actions can cause damage to our hair. You may reason, “but how can I give up such things?”   Well I’m here to tell you that there is no need to give up the flat iron forever, but there are new habits and techniques that you should incorporate into your hair care routine that could help your hair to repair itself.

When it comes to heat damage the temperature and frequency of the tools used will make a tremendous difference.  As with anything, it’s important to know what we are putting into or on our bodies; hair included. Look for sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners.  Sulfate is damaging to the hair because it strips the hair of its natural oils.  So always be mindful of the products you use and check the ingredients.  Allow a professional to give you a trim, or administer conditioning treatments or keratin treatments to help to recover hair strength.  Such treatments can penetrate the hair cuticle helping to repair the damaged hair.

So although we don’t live in a perfect world, having damaged hair is not something you have to contend with.  By using the right products and educating yourself on the causes of hair damage, you can work to maintain beautiful, strong, healthy hair.

What Is A Keratin Treatment?

Repair Your Hair with A Keratin Smoothing Treatment

What Is A Keratin Treatment?

Frizz-free, tangle free, shiny, strong, silky smooth hair. Impossible you say! Well, not necessarily. Keratin treatments and smoothing treatments have gained much attention in the hair industry. There have been many reviews, comments, and confusion circled around such services. Maybe you’re interested but wondering which route is best for you to take, keratin or smoothing treatments. What are the differences?

       Understanding The Formula

Let’s start with understanding what keratin is. It is a key protein and structural component in hair and nails. When you get a keratin treatment for the hair a hydrolyzed keratin formula is used to smooth out the surface follicles of the hair. It breaks apart certain bonds in your hair and then bonds them back together into a sleek new pattern, resulting in natural healthy straight hair. Smoothing treatments work the same way, however the difference is found in the formula and cream used on the hair.

    Smoothing Treatment vs Keratin Treatment

Smoothing treatments work best for people with wavy hair or frizzy straight hair. The smoothing treatment will smooth out the frizz making it more manageable and straight. For people with a tighter curl, denser hair texture, or more coarse hair, the smoothing treatment will not deliver the desired results and whatever results are achieved will not last as long. So for people with such hair textures a keratin treatment will be their best option.

Keratin treatments will relax the curl and tame the frizz, resulting in shiny, smooth, frizz-free, straight hair. Depending on the texture of hair, a keratin treatment can relax 50-90% of curl. A lot of people are concerned if you can get a keratin hair treatment or smoothing treatment on non-virgin hair, the answer is yes. You can get a keratin treatment for hair on colored, relaxed, highlighted, permed, and even bleached hair.

The service itself is not a long and extensive one. It should take no longer than 2 hours, depending on length of hair. The stylist will use a flat iron to seal the product into the hair cuticle. Where a lot of fear and hesitation comes in is the fear of the amount of formaldehyde used in keratin treatments. The key is to look for a salon that uses high quality and FDA approved formulas.

In summary, if you are interested in having strong, healthy, silky smooth hair a keratin treatment or smoothing treatment may be the answer. How do you choose which is best for you? Smoothing treatments work best on people with wavy hair or straight frizzy hair, people with a tighter curl or more coarse texture a keratin treatment may be the best option for you.

How Can a Keratin Treatment Benefit Damaged Hair

A keratin treatment can repair your damaged har.

How Can A Keratin Treatment Benefit Damaged Hair?

Many people wonder if a keratin treatment can truly benefit damaged hair. Tension from hairstyles, as well as excess heat and processing can cause our hair to appear damaged. The most direct way to correct damaged hair is definitely with a Keratin Treatment? Let’s explore why. Well, our hair is comprised of keratin, therefore, every day styling and manipulation of the hair can cause the keratin in our hair to become weakened.

How can a keratin treatment benefit hair that is damaged? During the process of the treatment, Keratin is applied to the hair, and then the hair is flat ironed to seal in the ingredients. Over the course of 72 hours, the Keratin bonds to the hair and fills in any areas of weakened keratin. The keratin acts like caulk filling in holes in a wall. Once the “holes” in your hair are filled in, your hair is stronger and less prone to damage. Also, because of the smoothness of the hair shaft, your hair will tangle less and dry faster. The combination of strengthening the hair and decreasing your styling time will ensure that your hair is less damaged now and in the future.

Repair Your Hair with A Keratin Smoothing Treatment

Everyday styling and maintenance can cause split ends to our hair but a keratin Smoothing  treatment can repair that, here’s how! Hair is comprised of 88% keratin. Split ends that occur can be repaired by getting a keratin treatment which will replace keratin that has been destroyed or weakened. A Keratin treatment works like a sealant repairing holes in a wall. Once the keratin is applied, the hair is flat ironed to seal the cuticles. Please note that severely damaged ends need to be cut and cannot be repaired 100%,  but a keratin Smoothing treatment is a great resolution to hair that’s integrity has been compromised.

After a keratin treatment, the hair is less prone to split ends because weakened keratin has been restored increasing the strength of the hair. Also, the hair now tangles less and dries easier so that styling time can be drastically reduced. So if you are needing to repair split ends and damaged hair, please do your research and conside a keratin smoothing treatment.

Learn The Difference Between a Brazilian Blowout and A Keratin Treatment

What Is The Difference Between A Brazilian Blowout And A Keratin Hair Treatment

keratin hair treatment

What is the difference between a brazilian blowout and a Keratin hair treatment

A Brazilian Blowout is perhaps the most well known among all other keratin hair treatment methods. There were a number of methods adopted by the women of the communities of America and Africa from earlier times. The chemicals and methods used in those therapies were very harmful and although the hair was straightened using those methods, the hair quality suffered a lot. The straightening was also temporary. Finally, Brazil came up with a treatment for straightening the hair for a long period of time. Brazilian blowout and a Brazilian keratin hair treatment are the two most common methods.

The blowout method uses a chemical. The chemical is first applied on the hair and then the conventional blowout is given to the hair. The main problem of this method is the use of harmful formaldehydes which produces toxic fumes when applied on to the hair, which is injurious to health and can infect the respiratory organs as well. Many women have also experienced the dangerous effects of this method.

Next is the well-known keratin hair treatment. In this process, only naturally occurring keratin is used as a conditioner. Keratin is a protein which is infused into the hair cuticles, and the therapy ends with a heat treatment which seals the protein in the hair. However, there are some post treatment measures, which must be followed for up to three days to have perfect shiny and silky hair. Many women now take pride in their beautiful hair after undergoing a keratin hair treatment. However, some complaints have been recorded that some companies are producing inferior quality keratin products that contain formaldehyde. So before the treatment, inquire about the ingredients of the product being used first.

Understanding a Keratin Straightening Treatment

Understanding a Keratin Straightening Treatment

The keratin straightening treatment is now among the most popular hair treatment in the beauty industry. The keratin straightening treatment appears as a miracle for frizzy and unhealthy hair. Keratin is a protein, which is infused into the hair cuticle, and then the hair is blow dried, and straightened using a flat iron. Although the method of treatment is very simple, it does have some side effects.

Although a keratin straightening treatment is advertised as a chemical free hair therapy, some keratin treatments uses formaldehyde. Researchers and manufacturers are trying to reduce the amount of formaldehyde used in these products to minimize any dangers. Moreover, the skin does not always absorb it but still, the effects of formaldehyde cannot be completely ignored. Therefore, a user must inquire before undergoing the therapy whether the salon is using this chemical in the treatment.

It has also been reported that some women have a experienced some hair damage within two weeks of their keratin hair treatment. There are several reasons why this could happen. An incorrect application could cause damage, a previous chemical service can also cause damage, and an allergic reaction to the keratin hair therapy ingredients could also cause damage.  When a keratin straightening treatment is applied properly to the hair, there should be no damage to the hair, and the results should be a healthy looking, shiny, frizz free head of hair. When applied appropriately the treatment helps to repair damaged hair and will give your hair new life.

Important Tips about a Brazilian Keratin Hair Treatment

Among other therapies, the keratin hair treatment is among the best ones you can apply on rough and dry hair to improve the quality of the hair. Among the keratin treatments the Brazilian option is very popular across the globe. Most of the salons in the country offer the Brazilian keratin hair treatment, which can nourish your rough, frizzy hair, and transform it into smooth and shiny hair. The expense for each session of the treatment varies from $150 to $600 depending upon the length and thickness of the hair.

The keratin used in the therapy is obtained from the wool of sheep found in New Zealand. Normally, it is liquid fur mixed with normal hair which provides the required strength and nutrition to the hair roots. The methods of applying keratin is very interesting.

The first phase is to shampoo and dry your hair with a towel to make it ready fora keratin treatment. Then the actually process starts with the application of high protein keratin onto the hair. A touch brush is used to infuse keratin into the hair cuticles. With the completion of the process of infusion, the hair is combed very gently to make a homogeneous distribution of the keratin. The hair is then dried perfectly with a blow dryer so that the next phase can be implemented on your hair.

Finally, the heat treatment process is done with a  flat iron that seals the keratin into the hair. The hair is compressed with the flat iron at around 4500 C and this heating must be done to give you smooth and shiny hair.

Will Your Pocket Permit a Keratin Hair Treatment?

keratin treatment brings back the health of your hairThe cost of a keratin hair treatment is really an important factor for people planning to undergo this treatment. The total expenditure varies from person to person depending on the length of their hair. The original keratin hair treatment from Brazil can cost about three hundred US dollars for each session. To maintain the shine and health of your hair permanently, you need to visit the salon for this treatment regularly after a gap of every three to five months.
However, if you want to have the hair treatment in an affordable price range, then you can opt for liquid based keratin hair treatments at your home. These home kits cost in the range of sixty-five to seventy US dollars. The home kit is  liquid keratin based and the method of treatment is not the same as the treatment that is done in a salon.

It is easy to use liquid keratin, but the effect of the treatment only lasts for a maximum period of four to six weeks, whereas the original salon treatment lasts up to five months.  It is highly recommended to go to a salon to have your keratin hair treatment applied by a certified professional.  The results will never by the same when you try to do it at home, damage could be done which could be irreversible. From past experiences when someone trys to do a chemical service at home they have found that they have caused extreme damage, which requires them to seek a salon professional to correct the damage and this could become costly.
However, for both home as well as salon treatments, you need to use some special shampoos to maintain your hair quality rather than using normal shampoos. This can increase costs a bit, but it doesn’t matter much because most users are very satisfied with the keratin hair treatment process, making it well worth your while.
